amba Taipei Ximending

We recently stayed here and had a wonderful time overall! The location is absolutely fantastic, making it incredibly easy to get around. We were also deeply impressed by the friendly and helpful staff, who made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. Our room offered great space to relax, and the bathroom features a heated shower with excellent water pressure, which was perfect after a long day of sightseeing. However, we really struggled with the bedding. The pillows were extremely soft and lacked support, which made it hard to get a comfortable night's sleep. Additionally, our specific room was quite dim with an inner window that offered no outside scenery. The breakfast buffet was also just average—standard fare, but convenient.

Great location in Ximending, with convenient access to shopping, restaurants, and public transportation. A comfortable choice for a three-night stay in Taipei.

Overall the service was acceptable, but I suggest that if other guests need to use the self-service laundry they should wait in the laundry area rather than setting a time and going back to their room to wait. During my stay I used the communal laundry facilities. I set the washer for 60 minutes and set an alarm; I still arrived at the laundry area five minutes early, but found the machine I had been using already opened and being used by another guest. When I asked the front desk they said they didn’t know and that if a machine no longer contained someone’s clothes staff would remove them and place them next to that area. Other guests there at the time said the machine had been beeping for a long time with no response, so a staff member came out from a “staff only” room, removed the clothes and put them aside before leaving. I had double-checked the washer’s finish time before leaving, and my alarm could not possibly have been set later than the machine’s end time, so there’s no way it had been beeping for a long time. Either the washer’s timer was malfunctioning, or a staff member casually removed another guest’s laundry to let someone else use the machine. The staff then irresponsibly placed the clothes on a chair and left, which felt very disrespectful. The front desk’s claim that they didn’t know what happened to the clothes was also irresponsible, forcing me to return to the area and check each bag myself to see whether it was mine before taking anything. Putting other issues aside, what if I had looked through the bags and one of them had belonged to another guest and that guest had been there when I was checking—what suspicion or awkwardness could that have caused? Although the overall stay, the facilities, and the location were excellent, this incident in the laundry room was very disappointing.

Was staying here for 3 nights in total. The hotel is located is very convenient location for shopping and MRT. It’s with laundry and variety of fresh breakfast. We like their Taiwan food - customise rice ball, Taiwan burger and braised rice. The room is clean and big, with big king size bed, very comfortable. The Bright window about to view the city clearly. Will book again if needed next time! 👍🏻

One of my family members who slept on the sofa bed had a terrible time—I'm not sure if it was bedbugs or an allergy. Whatever it was, it made it clear that you can't trust the cleanliness. The breakfast was really poor, too. Definitely do not recommend.

Amba is located within Ximending itself and it is easy to walk nearby shopping area, and very close to MRT station.
