Bagan Thande Hotel, Old Bagan

The hotel is located in Old Bagan, surrounded by numerous pagodas, with the Irrawaddy River quietly flowing at the doorstep. The hotel has a strong sense of history and a long heritage. The staff are friendly and helped arrange an electric scooter rental to tour Bagan. It's currently the low season in Bagan, so there were very few guests and it was very quiet at night. Due to Bagan's basic infrastructure, there are occasional power outages, but each only lasts a few minutes. Overall, if you are interested in history and pagodas, this hotel is well worth experiencing — you won’t be disappointed.

The views here are excellent and the staff service is outstanding, but the facilities are in poor condition; during my stay, the power went out every morning.

The hotel is situated in an excellent location, within walking distance of many of Bagan's most famous pagodas and temples. The staff were consistently kind, friendly, and accommodating throughout my stay. Unfortunately, the property would benefit from significant maintenance and refurbishment. The rooms show signs of wear and tear, including stained or marked walls, worn towels and torn bedding. In addition, there are gaps around parts of the room structure that may allow insects and geckos to enter. Prospective guests should be aware that this may be difficult for the hotel to address in the short term. One additional consideration is the hotel's location along the river. During my stay, I heard what appeared to be gunfire from across the river during the early morning hours on two consecutive days. While Old Bagan is generally considered a safe area for tourists, visitors should stay informed about the current security situation in the region and exercise appropriate caution when travelling.

Bagan is amazing, hotel is lovely. Go and see it, you will not regret visiting. The old town is a World Heritage Site on par with Angkor Wat and Giza. There are few visitors now. Visiting at this time is a rare life experience. Also I suggest you make a point of familiarizing yourself with the local craftsmen, the apex of which is the lacquerware, which is likely some of the finest in the world. Quite an amazing place.

Staying at Bagan Thande Hotel, Old Bagan this time was truly an enjoyable experience. The staff were very warm and helpful, assisting with many issues. I am sincerely grateful to the lady who can speak Chinese—her smile was contagious. The accommodation offered close contact with nature, and the most beautiful spot was the restaurant at sunset. I love this place. The only drawback was that there may be power outages in the morning; I hope this can be improved.

This is the hotel I stay at every time I visit the Bagan ruins. I’ve also stayed at The Thiripyitsaya of the same class, which was lovely, but the sunsets seen from the restaurant area of Bagan Thande Hotel, Old Bagan are in a league of their own. I’ll come back here again. If you request a river view, you can see the sunset from the room. This time I was alone, so I had a pool view.

If you stay here it’s for the two things mentioned in the title — both are really excellent. I’d recommend everyone come and experience them. The hotel facilities are a bit old; the cleaning is very thorough but it’s just aged. Still, the beds are quite comfortable. The service and staff are very good — they were great at helping arrange a car or rent a scooter, which is a plus.

We really liked this hotel. The view of the river is amazing, the staff is great, and the location is very good. We will certainly stay here again during our next visit to Bagan.
