“Good”

It’s a place with old facilities. Shower rooms and Restrooms are not really good.

“The store owner personally called to assist when lost.”

But actually this is right inside the scenic area. My friend and I got off where we needed to walk a bit up the mountain. The navigation directed me to climb some stairs, and it was pretty dark so I felt a bit scared. I contacted the owner right away, and the owner called me and explained how to get there. We met a friendly woman along the way who also told us the route, and we arrived without any problems. The place is very clean. I really liked it.

“Very good”

Liked: Extremely central. Comfortable bed and pillow. Very nice host (Max).

Disliked: The Common area is rather small and literally just the kitchen. The roof top is nice, but I while I was there it was only raining. A comfortable couch or so would be nice to have.

“Lovely place but it’s past its prime”

I can see the vibes that this place would’ve once held. I do wish the owners would take some initiatives to bring it back to that state. But currently, it’s filled with mold. And mold ain’t good. It’s very moist inside. I can understand that jiufen is very rainy but that just means that you need to put in extra efforts to keep it clean.

“Come here and you won’t regret!!”

The 2 nights I spent at Box Inn Jiufen became the highlight of my entire Taiwan trip. Facility is clean, location is amazing and the rooftop view is gorgeous. The staffs went an extra mile to help me and there was a strong sense of community among guests when I stayed. I ended up making friends with people all around the world. Felt right at home here and I wish I had more time with the hostel!!
