Crystal Lodge Motel

Liked: The rooms were very good, they had recently been remodeled.. The staff was good. The exterior was needing the same renovation.

Disliked: From the outside it looked run down.

Liked: Room was very large, clean and fully updated. Bathroom was small but fully redone, all tile, nice and clean. There was a problem with the toilet flushing, it was very promptly dealt with by owners. Full size,fridge, microwave and stove.

Disliked: Outside of motel looks fairly dated and not in a cool retro way, but a bit down at the heel. You'd never know from the outside how nice the rooms are!

Disliked: Pesticides guy just left. There was pesticide spray all around the bathroom and floors. It was wet and not healthy to breath. We had to wipe it up. 🤧

Liked: The trip to Ventura was to attend the OJAI STORYTELLING FESTIVAL. Ojai is just a 20 min drive away, but the motel/hotel prices are crazy up there, so we always stay near the beautiful Pacific Ocean!!! This property is just up the street from THE GRAPE, a wonderful place to listen to live music. It's also just blocks away from CASA DE SOLIA, obviously a Mexican restaurant where they serve quality. We try different older motels each time we come to Ventura; this was our first time at Crystal Lodge Motel. It's an older style motel, which has been renovated nicely. Our room was facing Thompson Blvd, a main street, but there are rooms on the back side as well. The night noise was little and the sound of upstairs visitors not terribly noticable. The VALUE is excellent especially for three people. Everything was clean. The floors are not carpeted, so bring your hotel sandals, but the floors were as clean as possible. The whole room was clean. We stayed in the 'family' room, which translates into three beds in one big room. (A three bed hotel or motel room is VERY RARE!!! Usually they will roll in a horrible cot or there is a purchased in 1950 bed/couch, which your dog doesn't even like to sleep on.) I love a soft bed and this queen size was absolutely perfect. An excellent kitchen with full size fridge, stainless steel sink, microwave and a usable stove oven took up the whole back wall of our room. A perfect room if you are planning on staying a few days. This is going to be our 'Ventura Home' base from now one.

Disliked: My only complaint: there was only one chair in a three bedroom room!! What one office chair. We couldn't all sit at the table. Go get some folding chairs from WALMART and put them in the kitchen area so we all can sit at the table and enjoy a meal. This will also stop someone from having to eat while on the bed and spilling food, thus possibly ruining the bedding! GET SOME FOLDING CHAIRS!!!!

Liked: Clean quiet staff was nice and efficient!

Disliked: The deposit was $200!! And you don't get it back right away!!

Liked: Management was very friendly, I checked in very late and was greeted with a smile. Very cool

Liked: The person at the front desk is very helpful and kind.

Disliked: A little noisy if you stay in the front of the establishment.

Liked: Room size

Disliked: The room we booked was not given to us, the staff /owner checked us into occupied rooms. Not 1x but 2x, & then proceeded to be rude about everything. We did check in around 9pm. Regardless. Very poor service, spend money elsewhere
