Disliked: as a 5 star hotel, theres no turn-down service until complain the morning after. The apology was a fruit basket half covered by a plastic sheet, not even cleanly covered, and it crumbled. The breakfast was à la cart, i understand that because of the small venue, but it was hosted by 2 staffs who would uncomfortably stand there and wait for the order. The A/C controller was downstairs, where the bed was upstairs; changing anything would require getting out of bed, going down a dangerous spiral stairs in the dark. There's a loud dehumidifier in the room; in the middle of the night, it beeps for 5' because the water tray was full. If there were a turndown service, it would probably have been turned off and prevented a small scare at night

Liked: Excellent location, a gorgeous area with the traditional shopfront restaurants and cafes. Close to a train station, bus route. Easy to get to the Marina Bay area if you're after the walk and exploration. The bar and restaurant staff were always happy for a chat and to recommend places in the surrounds to go for exploration or food. Across from a 7/11 if you need other supplies. The perks of staying, included breakfast, the afternoon tea and the evening drinks and snacks were delicious.

Disliked: Our bed and mattress were sinking quite significantly in the centre which made for some uncomfortable sleep. I would expect that they would be about ready for replacement.

Liked: Decor and historic value of the hotel was beautiful. Our room was exactly as described. Great location and use of The Maxwell hotel pool and gym was a bonus. Canapes and Cocktails were beautifully presented. Staff went above and beyond to make us welcome each time we walked through the lobby door.

Disliked: While we appreciated the historical essence of the hotel some practicalities of getting a heavy bag up stairs & into the lobby or up the curved staircase in the deluxe suite could be an issue for some.

Liked: Lovely. Location. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Good food recommendations and directions with a smile. It was Charming. Near the metro.

Disliked: Small room. We had to climb over each other to get out of bed. That was the negative. Especially in the middle of the night. The restaurant was very good but expensive.

I took my partner here for our anniversary and we had an excellent time due to the nice staff and beautiful indoor environment. The cocktails were top notch.

We had a wonderful night here as a treat. The opium room was perfect and the location close to what we were wanting to explore. Staff super friendly. The club access was an added bonus. Snacks, cocktails and breakfast were all amazing. Would definitely stay again.

The location, interior, and room size were satisfactory. However, it was disappointing that the room had a slight musty smell.

Staff was exceptional in their service, very friendly. Love the free cocktails for club access. For heaven's sake, please install bidets in the toilets.
