Emerald Bay Hotel & Spa Nha Trang

The hotel is located in an alley right behind a beachfront house, so getting around is fairly convenient. However, although the alley is driveable, almost no cars actually enter it, which is inconvenient for guests — drivers just wait on the main road during check-in, check-out, or when it’s raining. When I checked in the driver dropped me off on the street with a pile of suitcases:( fortunately a hotel staff member came out and brought them in for me. The staff didn’t seem to know how to instruct drivers either. Another downside is that the hotel entrance is up several steps, which is difficult for elderly guests. Waiting for the elevator in the basement takes a long time because staff use it, and the area in front of the elevator is used as a garbage staging area so it isn’t clean and smells. The stair treads have an anti-slip strip only in the middle, not on the sides, so wearing the hotel flip-flops is slippery — my child slipped and couldn’t go to the island the next day. A few small notes I hope the hotel can improve. Pluses are that the hotel’s furnishings are quite new and nicely designed. Breakfast was good.

Liked: Staff was friendly

Disliked: Sea view was actually partial. Location was not convenient for old folks like us. We had to climb a set of high steps to get in and out of the hotel.

The property offers a strong location with several quality eateries and conveniences close by. Breakfast was decent. The hot shower could be improved, as it was, at best, lukewarm.

PRO: Very big clean room. Excellent staff services. Good buffet breakfast. CON: hotel is in an alley. Hotel is filled with Russian tourists.

Liked: The rooms are very cozy and comfortable. The beds deserve a special mention — seriously, I don't think I've ever slept this comfortably in any other hotel. The rooms also offer an interesting view over Nha Trang, including the huge open area where the old Nha Trang airport used to be. From a high floor, it somehow looks like an empty city development from The Sims 1 — unusual, slightly surreal, and genuinely fascinating to look at. The hotel has a good, fully equipped gym. I worked out there regularly and found it very comfortable. Breakfast is another major plus. The buffet is genuinely tasty and offers a wide variety of food, with different dishes served on different days, so it doesn't become repetitive even during a longer stay. On my birthday, the hotel surprised me with a delicious little cake, which was a very thoughtful and much-appreciated gesture. I also really liked some of the smaller details, especially the pleasantly scented shampoo and hand soap. There are scales in the rooms as well, which I found useful.

Disliked: The main issues are the same ones that several other guests have mentioned. There were some problems with the windows: I couldn't properly close them using the handle, although they remained closed under their own weight. The hotel can also get quite busy, which is particularly noticeable when using the elevators during peak hours in the morning and evening. Going from the 28th floor down to the lobby can sometimes involve seven or more stops along the way.

Disliked: It's more suited to Russians. We checked out early because we didn't like the hotel or the area. Nha Trang isn't for us due to so many Russians. No smoking on the balcony allowed. The tv is old and not smart tv.

Hotels in Vietnam generally have rooms that look pretty much like the official photos, and this hotel is no exception. The location is great — just a few hundred meters to the beach — and they offer breakfast, which is quite tasty. It’s a very good value hotel, cleanliness is well maintained, and I highly recommend staying here.
