Liked: Never got my money back from the deposit

Liked: The location near Randolph Transit Center.

Puke. It's old and filthy and there's a train right outside

Liked: The room temperature was good. It was clean and the mattress was in decent shape.

Disliked: The other people staying there were loud even deep into the night. There was obvious drug use going on. The staff was somewhat professional but not exactly friendly. The area had a lot homeless people around.

If I could rate this place lower I would. I booked this location based on the photos and the rating. Classic case of bait and switch. Can you say fraud? The location is pretty terrible plus there is lots of construction. My wife felt incredibly unsafe just sitting in the car in front of the lobby. The inside of the lobby looks decent enough and the woman working there was initially okay. She asked me to sign a check in document which is not abnormal but upon scanning it I noticed that there was a line that said I was accepting the room as is. When I asked how I could do that without seeing the room she said that was just how they did things and it was not a big deal so I signed it. Big mistake! The also required a $20 deposit which I gave in cash. We went up to the room and checked it out. Positives - the floor looked reasonably clean as did the bathroom vanity counter. Negatives - the front door did not seem very secure, bathroom door was very beat up, stains on the bed cover, stains and hair on the sheets, multiple pieces of masking tape on the wall near the ceiling, the lamp light switch knob was missing so you could not turn the lamp on, towels consisted of one small hand towel. I went to the lobby and asked if I could get more towels and she told me she did not have the key for the laundry so she could not give me any more. We decided to cut our losses (non-refundable room) and leave. We had been on the premises for about 10 minutes. We turned in the key and asked for our deposit back. She refused to give it back saying we could not get that back until we checked out and we could not officially check out until the next day. She also said that a manager had to check the room before they would return the deposit and they would not be there until the morning. So not only were we scammed out of the cost of the room we did not stay in, they also stole $20 cash from us. Overall, we are grateful that the only thing we lost in this ordeal was money as it could have been much worse. Agoda was no help in dealing with this and stood with the motel, citing the need to stick to their policies and guidelines to maintain fairness and consistency for their customers. So, I guess it is okay for their customers to experience fraud and theft as long as they stand to make some money off of it.
