“Too many drawbacks, I've never had such a terrible experience.”
If you only care about the outdoor hot spring and don't mind the quality of everything else, then it might be worth considering. First, the negatives: 1. The minibar fridge isn't cold. 2. The coffee machine is dirty — it looked like mold and there was a lot of leftover grease. It was so filthy I wouldn’t dare to use it for hygiene reasons. 3. The towels shed a ton of lint; I had allergic reactions during the stay and had to take allergy medicine. 4. The outdoor chairs are old and dirty, and the outdoor curtains are moldy or full of dead insects. 5. The owner watches videos loudly in the common living room, and you can hear it in the rooms. Early in the morning there was loud clanging of pots and pans that woke me up. 6. A lot of items were expired; the things provided in the room were basically inedible/undrinkable. If there’s no expiration date written I still wouldn’t trust it… 7. The only circulation fan in the room is noisy. 8. The toilet paper is very poor quality and rips easily. 9. The communal milk and soy milk are brand-packaged (Wei-Chuan)… For this price point, shouldn’t milk be provided per person in individual cartons or prepared fresh that day? You have no idea when it was opened or how others handled it, which raises hygiene concerns for most people. 10. Breakfast is prepared and then left out; there were dead insects on the fruit. Breakfast is made by the owner and is like a traditional breakfast shop platter — don’t expect too much. It was really ordinary… and some side dishes were the same ones I’d seen wrapped in plastic and kept in the fridge since yesterday. The owner’s wife is very friendly, but to compare this place to Royal (Laurel) Hotel is really, well… Pluses: 1. Fewer bugs than expected. 2. The hot spring water is plentiful.

“The homestay is thoughtful and the environment is serene.”
I stumbled across Juyue and decided to take a two-day solo trip to Yilan. The setting is very peaceful; parking is easy and it’s also close to the town. The whole guesthouse is thoughtfully decorated and well maintained, giving a very cozy and relaxing feel. The room was fairly spacious, and even the ground-floor room with an open-air hot spring on the balcony facing the greenery was incredibly comfortable. The owner and his wife were very friendly and put a lot of care into preparing breakfast. I will definitely return if I get the chance — highly recommended!

“Quality Solo Travel Plan”
The room was tastefully appointed, clean, and thoughtfully arranged — spacious with beautiful views. With some luck we even saw a few monkeys in the opposite hillside picking and eating fruit. In addition to the private semi-outdoor rooftop bath, there was of course a private hot-and-cold spring bathtub. It’s also worth mentioning that the stairs are easy and friendly to walk. After a good night's sleep I went downstairs to be greeted by a delicious breakfast: healthy, nutritious Japanese-style oil-and-vinegar dressing paired with whole ingredients. I finished the entire plate, clearing it clean — my taste buds awakened me for the day. I sincerely recommend this to overworked workaholics — let your body soak in the hot springs and take a holiday.

“The CP value is very high.”
There was unlimited black tea, soy milk, and milk, and the room had a coffee machine and a DVD player (the sound system was very good). The room was the cleanest I’ve ever stayed in — flawless, like it was brand new. The fridge even had Sports Drink, and there were cookies on the table. Breakfast was delicious. You can enjoy the view from the room balcony while eating — very relaxing. The breakfast tasted great and was nicely presented. It’s also very close to Matcha Mountain. After walking around the mountain and coming back, taking a bath was a real pleasure.

“A rare room type with clean and independent hot spring baths.”
The place is clean, with a few short steps. The owner is very attentive and gives a thorough introduction. The lobby provides family-size milk/soy milk/black tea for guests to drink 👍🏻 There are also DVDs you can borrow from the lobby to use in your room. The room has a coffee maker and some snacks. They thoughtfully provide lotion for people whose skin gets dry after soaking in the hot springs. Because the surroundings are close to nature and they don't disturb the local ecosystem, you may sometimes encounter small bugs/moths and frogs? toads (not sure which 😆). If you can’t accept wildlife, you might want to think twice 🤣 Great for couples — really offers a private, intimate space 👍🏻

“Fantastic stay”
Room is big, clean, modern, garden feel and very relaxing. They have outdoor onsen with nature and seaview. It was an enjoyable and unforgetable stay there. It you come to Yilan for onsen, this is the best choice. Highly recommended. I will definitely come back again.
