Kawada Hotel

This is a true hidden gem when it comes to price, location, and hospitality. The hotel rooms are very clean and it’s located in a safe area (walking distance from everything you may need). There is also easy access to trains if you’d like to go beyond DTLA. The staff is top tier along with such a kind and knowledgeable manager. 10/10 recommendation

Kawata Hotel is easily accessible from Union Station by subway, just a short 1-2 minute walk. The Central Food Market is also nearby, a 4-5 minute walk away. Check-in was smooth. The room is equipped with a microwave and a kettle, which was convenient. There are reviews mentioning that the king bed is small, but it was sufficiently large for my spouse and me, which was good. The hotel provides shampoo, body soap, and hand soap. If you bring indoor slippers and a toothbrush set, you won't have any issues. During our stay, I was initially anxious about using Uber, but searching for Kawata Hotel allowed me to set the destination easily, and the driver picked us up right in front of the hotel, which was reassuring and convenient. It cost around $10. The subway is nearby and convenient, but as many have pointed out, there were suspicious individuals and people staying at the entrances. It’s better to avoid going out at night. We went to Dodger Stadium for two days. We took an Uber from the hotel to Union Station and boarded the Dodger Express. We made it to the game on time even with a departure one hour before the start. The best entry point to Dodger Stadium is from center field. The bag check took only about 30 seconds if you follow the rules. The Habit’s French fries and vanilla shake were the best food of this trip, so I recommend giving them a try! I hope this information is helpful to everyone.

Hotel je príjemný, veľmi blízko metra, check-in bol veľmi rýchly. Izba bola čistá, trochu menšia, ale nedalo sa otvoriť okno, takže sa nedalo vyvetrať, čo bolo dosť nepríjemné, v izbe bol jemný zápach. Na prespanie, čo som potreboval, to bolo veľmi dobré za dobrú cenu.

Nothing fancy but the hotel gets many things right. My room was small and had no view but it was clean, had a comfortable bed, aptly sized and clean bathroom, a refrigerator, and even a microwave. Towels and sheets were clean and looked new. All the staff were pleasant and helpful. I was away most of the time and only slept in the hotel so it was just right for me. I think it’s a good option for staying in downtown LA.

Liked: The staff is SO unbelievably kind. The cleanliness of the room was fantastic! There is a bar and restaurant and a coffee shop one door down from the entrance to the hotel that was absolutely delicious. Then there is grand street market two blocks down with even more great food and drinks. I was thrilled with this hotel.

Disliked: The rooms are a bit small, but it’s absolutely fine for a short weekend stay for solo travelers or couples. The bathroom is great, and there’s a desk and microwave and mini fridge so it still has everything you need in a hotel room.
