Lux Hotel LIC

Liked: Good local amenities, 5-10mins walk to the subway. Nice modern room

Disliked: Construction noise early in the morning

Liked: The most affordable option in all of Manhattan and Queens

Disliked: The Lux Hotel is what happens when ownership decides collecting money matters more than actually finishing the hotel. My room had construction dust and debris, no hot water, no working heat or AC, no trash cans, lamps with no bulbs, a Roku that was not set up, a remote with no batteries, and a refrigerator that was basically decorative because there was nowhere practical to plug it in. Parts of the furniture were literally taped together. At that point, I wasn’t a guest. I was unpaid opening staff. The employees were kind, but management has clearly left them to absorb the anger created by an unfinished property. Checkout took around 30 minutes while other frustrated guests complained at the front desk. Future guests: do not assume this is a fully functioning hotel just because it is accepting reservations. Based on my stay, you may be paying full price for a room that is still incomplete, improperly equipped, and missing basic necessities. Until this property is actually finished and operational, I would book somewhere else.
