Mercure Melbourne City Centre

2nd time i've stayed here in the last few weeks. Overall experience is positive, staff are great. this last trip there were problems with the lifts, something that cant be helped, it happens. Mattress in my room was horrible though, very uncomfortable. I think its more a case of just being abit unlucky with this weeks stay as previously no issues with the bed in the other room i was in a few weeks earlier. One bug bear is housekeeping is every third day only (aside from post checkout cleaning, etc).

Liked: Hotel was in a perfect location for us as we came up on the train. Breakfast was very good. The room was big enough for a night's stay.

Disliked: Bed was a bit on the hard side, didn't sleep well on the night we stayed and the pillows too. Not comfortable.

Room beside is too noisy until 4am Tried calling reception multiple times but there’s no one answering

If you are booking this hotel strictly for the location, you will not be disappointed. It sits right in the heart of Melbourne, making it incredibly easy to walk to major attractions, top-tier dining, and public transport. In terms of pure convenience, the value for a "5-star" postcode is excellent. Potential guests should adjust their expectations regarding the actual property and amenities: The space is exceptionally small. More importantly, the walls are paper-thin. You will hear everything happening in the hallway and adjacent rooms, which makes for a less-than-peaceful sleep. Housekeeping is only done every 3 days. Do not expect daily turn-down service or fresh towels unless you are prepared to wait or specifically ask. You are paying for the premium dirt this hotel is built on. If you just need a launchpad to explore Melbourne and don't mind sacrificing room size, quietness, and luxury amenities, the value is there.

Liked: Hotel location was great and staff friendly and helpful. In the CBD near shops and restaurants. The king bed was very comfortable.

Disliked: The bathroom/shower/toilet area was quite small and for my wife the mirror was poorly lit. The air con was noisy and even when off there was quite a noisy draft under the door from the corridor
