“Not recommended.”
This standalone guesthouse feels like an old, run-down inn, tucked into a very dark alley. Going in gave me an inexplicable sense of fear. The location is good, and the room is small—understandable for this area—but the peeling walls and other fixtures felt unclean, and there was a strange odor. I stayed in ***, not on the first floor, yet for some reason I could hear the traffic clearly and there were intermittent rumbling noises. In short, I hardly slept for two nights. I checked in too late to cancel, and I had work to deal with, so I had to endure the discomfort for two days. I hope the hotel or the booking platform will improve things and clearly disclose when accommodations are in this kind of condition.

“Needs improvement.”
I stayed in a double room. The hotel operates entirely self-service for check-in and check-out, so there isn’t much staff interaction, but they have a convenient LINE service and a website that gives you the main door and room codes. If you only need a place to sleep and don’t care much about space, it’s pretty good. The room is a bit old and the floor hasn’t been renovated, so there are signs of previous use and many areas weren’t cleaned well—for example, hair and dust in corners or under the table and chairs. The cleanest area was the bathroom. The bed, duvet, and pillows were fairly clean and comfortable. Opinions may vary, but overall it’s not bad though there’s room for improvement.

“Accommodation experience”
The website said someone would help with check-in, but when I arrived the front door only had a QR code and guests had to check themselves in. The facial recognition wouldn’t accept me, so I had to call customer service. I’m Taiwanese so it was fine for me, but a group of Thai women arrived later and were completely confused. Also, I booked three days and two nights, but on the first day at 11 a.m. a staff member rang my doorbell saying it was checkout time… then apologized after admitting they’d scheduled it wrong. The staff training is really poor — it’s awful being woken up and rushed out in the morning. On top of that, the air conditioner started dripping water in the middle of the night. Am I paying to be put through this?

“Excellent”
The large room type was okay, but the two-room unit wasn't—the AC didn't cool properly, and when I asked to change rooms, the staff said they were fully booked.

“It was perfect for sightseeing in Taipei.”
This is my third time using this hotel. It is very conveniently located close to the night market and Shilin Station. The hotel entrance and each room have keypad entry locks, so it was easy to come and go without carrying a key card. The room and the bathroom were very clean with no noticeable dirt at all. (Plus, you can take a shower with warm water!) Additionally, you can always contact the staff online, making it very convenient for accommodating sudden schedule changes. It was a very comfortable hotel, and I would like to use it again when I come to Taiwan next time.

“The windows are dirty, the curtains are dirty and damaged. At first, the staff were unwilling to replace the broken hairdryer. There are many debris on the floor, indicating that it has not been thoroughly cleaned. The lack of parking spaces is a known feature, not a problem.”
Considering the cost of one night ***, I can't really complain, but if you're driving you need to think about moving your luggage and the parking fee (the cheapest nearby is NT$500). So with the hidden costs added, you should expect to add about NT$800, which may not be more economical than a typical guesthouse.

“Excellent”
It's good for money and safe place. However, quite far from Taipei and Ximen.

“Acceptable”
Staff at the hotel knocked on the door before we had checked out, and they did so in a threatening tone — they didn’t even say good morning and immediately demanded money. After we complained, we were met with even harsher accusations and lectures. In our panic we left things behind. This woman seems like a repeat offender, using the same tactics on different guests. It felt more like being in a jail than a hotel. I hope they quickly identify this woman. There are no restrooms in the lobby, forcing guests to go back to their private rooms. I also noticed fire-safety issues: the emergency exit door was locked, which raises public safety concerns. This woman may be the cause of more guest complaints and official reports.
