Four-star hotel, service worse than budget hotels I’ve stayed in Booked our first staycation here and left very disappointed. I will not return. The aircon barely cooled the room despite trying different temperatures and fan settings. By past 2 a.m., we were sweating. Calls to the operator went unanswered for around 20 minutes, and nobody answered the hotel’s external number either. I went downstairs and found the receptionist using his phone with earbuds in. He arranged another room and agreed we could move straight over because my partner was exhausted. Despite us declining a technician visit, one still arrived as we were leaving and insisted on checking. His tone was rude and condescending. He focused on telling us our settings were wrong instead of listening when we explained what we had already tried. By then, it was around 3 a.m. We had also paid for late checkout until 6 p.m. I confirmed this during the room change and again with reception the next morning. Both times, staff assured me it was recorded. Yet around noon, we returned from the pool to find our key cards disabled. I had to go to the lobby wet and wrapped in a towel. Reception reactivated the cards without an apology or explanation. Then at around 4 p.m., someone called our room asking why we had not checked out. One problem is understandable. Repeated problems after several confirmations, with little empathy or accountability, ruined the stay. I’ve received better service at budget hotels. If you’re considering this hotel for a relaxing getaway, I would think twice.

Honestly, I wouldn’t say this hotel is anything fantastic. It’s a decent place where you can get a good night’s sleep, but overall, I feel that the hotel looks rather rundown. What I find most ironic is how much they emphasise saving the Earth and being environmentally friendly, yet some of their practices just don’t make sense. For example, there was a sign in the toilet advising guests not to use too much toilet paper because a gallon of water is needed to flush it away. My question is: Where is the bidet? Wouldn’t having one be a more practical solution? Then there’s the shop downstairs, which sells a can of Coke for $7! In my entire life in Singapore, I have never seen a shop charge that much for a can of Coke. Seriously, $7 for a can of Coke?! When I asked if there was a microwave available to heat up food, I was casually told that it was down. The lack of proper facilities and service was disappointing, especially for a hotel that is rated four stars. The experience with late checkout was equally frustrating. Upon checking in, I specifically asked for a late checkout, and the staff member confirmed that it would be extended until 1 pm. However, at 12.30 pm, I received a call informing me that my checkout time was 12 pm. When I explained that I had already been granted a late checkout, the staff asked me which staff member had told me that. Overall, a rather disappointing experience. While the hotel is decent enough for a place to sleep, it falls short in terms of facilities, value for money, and service consistency. For a four-star hotel, I expected better.

I had a lovely 4 day stay at this newly rebranded and refurbished Singapore classic hotel. The staff were amazing. I had 5 large luggages and the bellmen eagerly assisted both on check-in and checkout. My room was spotless with a small but fresh and bright bathroom with extraordinary water pressure. It was cosy with a very large bed and was adequately appointed. Lastly, the desk staff were very helpful with extending in the length of stay my numerous queries. I would like say special thanks Hema & Nicole on the desk staff for all their kind assistance throughout my stay.
