Palette Best Inn Hotel

Got the promo. Great given such a competitive price. Needs addition of a water dispenser and free drinks.

Among hotels in Balikpapan, I think this one is on the cleaner side. The rooms are spacious and it's pleasantly quiet. It's a shame there were a kettle and bottled water but no coffee or tea. This might be true across Indonesia, but perhaps due to sewage issues, the elevator smelled like a drain. The shower in the room also smelled, and they used a very strong deodorizer whose scent made me feel unwell. There aren't many warungs within walking distance.

Excellent service, best price and cozy

Cozy, comfort and strategic

The stay was quite comfortable; the hotel is set a little inward so it’s away from the highway noise. I got a long-weekend rate of 370k and stayed for 2 nights. The hotel is well facilitated, but it is a bit aging and could use some TLC. Unfortunately the room didn’t provide slippers, a kettle for boiling water, or a telephone, so that was a bit limiting. Although there’s a water dispenser in the lobby, I suggest adding bottled-water dispensers on each floor so guests can more easily get hot water. The linens are starting to show wear and tear, but they were still reasonably clean and the AC was cold enough. The room had a 32-inch smart TV, but unfortunately it had no internet connection. Breakfast was simple but adequate; my buffet was served by Mr. Rizal (sales) and the chef, Ms. Wiwid, who were very friendly and offered coffee. The coffee shop has a balcony for smoking, which is very pleasant. Each floor also has a smoking balcony with a lovely view of Balikpapan.

The AC wasn’t cold, there was no Netflix, the towels and bath mat weren’t clean, and there was hair in the sink when I first arrived. The price didn’t match expectations 👎👎

The room was okay; the only drawbacks were the limited TV channels and that the towels could be cleaner.
