Riviera South Beach Hotel

Overall the hotel was great. Cleanliness was great and everything else went smoothly. I was disappointed that the pool was out of service for my four day stay, reason why I booked was to have a pool, but that was disappointing. And to pay regular price without a discount for the inconvenience was something that didn’t sit well with me. Also, be prepared to pay more for overnight parking than your car rental if you have one. $40’dollar a day because they don’t have parking. That’s $120 just on parking alone. For this I wouldn’t stay again or recommend this hotel.

Liked: House keeping stole my jewelry I’ve stayed here a lot and like it but when theft becomes an issue it is a no for me. Also the front desk doesn’t answer the phone, she laughed in my face and said they don’t turn the ringer volume up so they don’t have to hear it or answer it. Very unprofessional

Liked: The Lobby was nicely decorated.

Disliked: I reserved a superior king balcony room. Upon check-in, the air conditioner in the unit wasn’t working and we were not in the upgraded superior king room. I immediately called the front desk to state the room was not the one I reserved and paid for on booking.com. I also told the front desk the air conditioner was not working. She stated she would have someone come to look at the unit. No one ever showed up. A portable air conditioner had been placed in the room and the ventilation was duct taped through the balcony door. The balcony was not accessible due to the main air conditioner not working and door was duct taped shut. The hotel was definitely aware of the air conditioner not working in this room because it had to rigged for the portable air conditioner to even attempt to function. It was about 85 degrees in this unit the entire stay. I asked to move rooms to the type that I had rented. I was told there were no other rooms available. They offered a $34 resort fee to be credited which was useless. I would never book this place again!!!! Customer service lacked professionalism. A company was also booked for a work trip. My room probably was given to them even though I booked my room months prior.

Liked: It was close to the beach, free transportation, and restaurants.

Disliked: I wasn't able to stay in our original room but they made up for the inconvenience.

Disliked: I booked two rooms with balconies, but neither room matched what I paid for. Room 207 had a taped-off, unusable balcony because of a portable AC unit, and I was also given a handicap-accessible room that I never requested. Room 105 had the same balcony/AC issue and was given double beds instead of the room type I booked. There were also basic service issues. The shower only got warm, and there were no clean face towels available. I went to the front desk three times between 3:00 and 5:30 PM before being told that housekeeping had no clean towels. The hotel knew there were AC issues in Building 3, yet I was not notified before arrival or offered an alternative. I paid balcony-room prices but did not receive usable balconies or the room configurations I booked. The hotel only offered to refund the resort fees, which does not bring the price down to what I would have paid for regular rooms.

Liked: I liked the location and the restaurant and cafe they had onsite.

Disliked: After every single bathroom usage it was this sewage odor that came out from the drain. We had to close the bathroom door after every use.
