“Hmm...”

There were a lot of insects in the room… bugs I’d never seen before, like flies or stink bugs. Most of the staff were foreign. The public bath felt slippery—probably from the hot spring minerals—and I was afraid I might slip. The view from the room window was nice.

“Acceptable”

Liked: Location was excellent for the mountains, local viewpoints. Liked the outside onsen.

Disliked: The hotel is really tired, it is in desperate need of an overhaul. Parts of the hotel hadn't been cleaned in days if not weeks. The carpets could do with a vaccum, tiled floors wiped down, ledges dusted. I suspect this is due to a shortage of staff. Rooms were clean.

“Good budget hotel”

The room was good size. There were tour groups during our stay, so we had to queue for check in and check out. We took the Japanese style room and had to make our own beds. The bath towels were smelly when wet. As we were only there for an evening, we didn't raise it with the hotel.

“Family baths are the best.”

We stayed as a couple. The private family bath had its own robes provided, so we could wear them and enjoy it together without worrying about being seen, which was great. We booked room-only, but there was a convenience store nearby so we didn’t have any trouble getting food. We were mostly satisfied, but the crane games in the game center were hard to win—made for a few laughs.

“Good value!”

We spent two nights here on a half-board basis (breakfast and dinner included), and the dining experience was excellent with a wide variety of delicious options. While our first day felt overcrowded and a bit overwhelming for a relaxing getaway, the second day was significantly quieter and much more peaceful. A unique highlight was trying the mixed-gender onsen for the first time—the provided modesty garments made it a comfortable and interesting experience!
