“An absolute top choice for staying in London.”
Liked: The location is exceptional! Step outside and you’re just two minutes from South Kensington Underground Station, with bus stops and taxi ranks right at the doorstep. The Natural History Museum, Science Museum, and V&A are all within easy walking distance. You are also just minutes from Thurloe Square’s great dining scene and Bute Street (“Little Paris”) with its charming French bakeries, cafés, and Saturday market. The hotel staff are wonderfully friendly, helpful, and courteous. Our room was spotless and remarkably spacious—even larger than many standard London hotel rooms. The Ampersand Hotel made our stay fantastic. I will definitely be returning on my next trip to London and highly recommend it to anyone visiting!

“A magical London stay — I can't imagine staying anywhere else next time”
I absolutely loved my stay at The Ampersand. I stayed for a week and by the time I left, it genuinely felt like my home away from home, one that I inexplicably found in London. The location was perfect for me. South Kensington station is about a three-minute walk away, which made getting around London incredibly easy, and there are so many restaurants, cafés and shops within a few minutes' walk. Groceries and pharmacies are also nearby. I loved being able to come back after a long day, drop off my shopping, and head straight out again without the hotel ever feeling inconveniently located. What really made the stay exceptional, though, was the staff. Gerry was wonderful — always cheerful, happy to chat, and incredibly helpful with my ridiculous amount of luggage and shopping. Katrina at the front desk was equally lovely and helpful, and even gave me a brilliant packing tip while I was bemoaning how much I'd bought! Those little interactions made the hotel feel warm and personal rather than simply somewhere I was sleeping. The housekeeping team deserves special recognition as well. They were extraordinarily efficient and consistently left my room immaculate. There were a couple of occasions when I'd left the room in considerably less than immaculate condition after rushing out, and somehow I'd return to find everything beautifully restored. They were fantastic. The room itself was beautiful, comfortable and full of character. A few small things are worth mentioning: sound insulation between floors isn't perfect, so I could occasionally hear footsteps from the room above. The bathtub also made a strange groaning/rattling noise twice during my stay, although it never caused an actual problem. I also personally would have loved colder air-conditioning — but I live in the tropics and am accustomed to air-conditioning that is practically attempting to induce hypothermia, so other guests may consider the temperature perfectly reasonable! None of these things meaningfully detracted from my stay. More than anything, The Ampersand managed to feel both like a beautiful London hotel and somewhere genuinely welcoming to come home to at the end of each day. I had an incredibly happy week in London, and the hotel became part of that experience. I loved my stay so much that when I return to London, I honestly can't imagine wanting to stay anywhere else.

“A touch of luxury in South Kensington”
Liked: Luxury in the city. Excellent hotel in great South Kensington location. Half a vlock to Tube and within walking distance of market, great restaurants, parks and museums like the V&A, National History Museum and more. Staff are friendly and helpful. Mini bar was included which was a nice touch. Very comfy bed and great room amenities.
Disliked: I had a tiny room, which worked for me as a solo traveller, but would certainly be too small for two. I'm sure there are some excellent other room options in the hotel on the higher floors.
