The Dharmawangsa Jakarta

This is my second time staying at the Dharmawangsa. The location is great and the property grounds beautiful but inside the hotel is a bit tired. Prior to check in I reached out about airport transfer and was recommended a taxi (was hoping for a hotel car) checked in and the toilet didn’t flush and the mattress was so old it had collapsed in the middle making it an uncomfortable first night sleep. This was fixed on the second day after speaking to reception. We had an event to attend on the third day so the day before I asked concierge to make a hair salon booking at a local salon together with a car to take me the following morning except no booking was made and I was just given a name of a salon to go to at dharmawangsa square except when I got there the salon wasn't in the square and not even open. The hotel was exceptionally busy with a VIP wedding on the Sunday so breakfast was moved from their beautiful restaurant to a suite upstairs where tables were placed up against walls and chairs facing the wall. No notification was given to us about the restaurant being closed and as we were only staying 4 nights we really love a relaxing breakfast. The wedding went into the night and loud singing stopped at 9.30pm but then the event breakdown went on for the next 2 hours so we were awake listening to the banging of metal. The pool is closed on Mondays which was disappointing. The staff are friendly but management needs some retraining in anticipating guests needs. Would I go back? Probably not.. lots of other nice hotels in Jakarta.

(+) The hotel is peaceful, with a resort-like atmosphere despite being in Jakarta; the surrounding area is quiet. Facilities are comprehensive: there are two pools, outdoor and indoor — unfortunately the indoor pool was under maintenance during my stay. The gym equipment is fairly complete. The staff are very friendly and helpful. There is a quiet library and lounge. (-) There are some parts of the hotel that need maintenance, such as several sections of the front ceiling that have collapsed. It’s a shame that this legendary hotel in Jakarta is not being properly maintained.

Liked: The details. I do agree there needs to be some areas that need refreshing. We love the charm of older settings and the grounds as a whole was excellent. The staff are what makes a great stay and the attention to how we have our room and the hospitality of all the staff was exceptional.

Disliked: A refresh of some areas and having universal power outlets would be something I would like to see. My wife has stayed at the Dharmawangsa multiple times and is her first choice when staying in Jakarta and I can now see why!

It's well worth the stay, you feel treated. Nice atmosphere and the rooms are excellent as are the staff. A great overall hotel.

Liked: I stay in the hotel every year with family or friends or my husband but this was the first time I was disappointed in the stay.

Disliked: The room felt very outdated, broken sockets, sagging beds. Sound from the street was very loud through the windows all through the night so it was difficult to sleep. It was not informed upon booking that the pool were to be closed due to an event - and I booked specifically to use the pool. The wellness area and spa has been closed for years and have not reopened.

Liked: We love to come here while in Jakarta, there' no better place to stay.The staff is so amazing, always friendly and helpfull, finding a solution for everything and always so cute with the children. The rooms are huge with nice balconies. The breakfast is the most amazing. We're always so looking forward to it.the garden area is really a rare pearl in Jakarta. It's really worth ot staying there.

Disliked: Nothing

Very authentic hotel in Jakarta. Best facilities and dining so dont need to go out of hotel. Best part of this hotel is the beautiful swimming pool and staffs. Deserve to upgrade suit room here in Dharmawangsa hotel.

Liked: The Room, the bed and the pillows. Shower room, toilet (need bidet). Tapi keseluruhannya melebihi perkiraan saya, memberikan privasi dan kenyamanan yang tidak saya bayangkan sebelumnya.

Disliked: The food. Hampir semuanya agak terlalu asin, kebanyakan garam. mungkin bisa di kurangi, lalu disediakan garam jika orang mau menambahkan. Less salt makes the food taste more elegant.
