“Fantastic, chic and unique property in a great location!”
Liked: The location was outstanding...right in the heart of everything and we loved arriving for First Fridays. We could walk to so many lovely restaurants, shops and galleries
Disliked: My only complaint is that I requested more coffee pods for our room and never received any. Minor issue!

“Beautiful design, but disappointing execution. While the hotel looks great, the lack of comfort, organization, and atten”
Liked: The room was visually beautiful and had a unique boutique design. The decor was thoughtfully curated, the bed was clean, and the bathroom was modern and well maintained. The hotel has a lot of character and makes a great first impression.
Disliked: Unfortunately, the overall guest experience didn’t match the appearance of the room. The self check-in and check-out process was confusing, with little support or communication. There wasn’t a secure or convenient luggage storage option, and leaving bags in an unattended basement during checkout didn’t feel safe or organized. The room also lacked comfort for an overnight stay. Aside from the bed, there wasn’t a comfortable place to relax. The desk was awkward for eating or working, and the accent chair looked nice for photos but was uncomfortable to actually sit in. Small details also made the room feel less polished, including a broken, unusable safe and a closet filled with mismatched hangers that appeared to have been left behind by previous guests. While the location in Old City may appeal to some visitors, it wasn’t as convenient for the areas we wanted to spend time in.

“Quiet and beautifully appointed property close to all Philly had to offer.”

Disliked: Two Front doors and not immediately obvious which one to use

“Very good”
Liked: Decoration, location is perfect. Cozy and nice
Disliked: There is no arrangement for luggage drop. Staff helped me out to open the room earlier but there must be a way to be able to drop your luggages. I had to take with me in the following morning and put in one of stash stores. It must be solved.

“Overall good, but with ONE niggling issue.”
Liked: The hotel location itself could not be situated better. It's on a quiet, charming cobblestoned street upon which you'll find, among other things, a secondhand bookstore, a quaint secondhand knick-knack shop, coffeeshops nearby, and a historic alley with houses that have existed since 1753. It's a 5-minute walk to the closest train station, and a stone's throw from the river. I stayed in the Adams suite, which has a kitchenette, a very comfortable king sized bed with luxurious sheets, and a spacious ensuite bathroom. When looking for a place to stay I tend to prioritize location, comfort, and cleanliness, of which there are many in Philly. What made me want to stay at the Gas Lamp Hotel is the overall "vibe," however. I absolutely adore the look of the room.
Disliked: I did have an issue with the A/C unit in the room, unfortunately. I arrived on a warmer than normal spring day, and found the temperature inside the room to be higher than the temperature outside. I wanted to turn the A/C on for just a bit in order to regulate the temperature. There's a little cubby on the wall that houses the remote control for the A/C unit. I made sure it was on, and selected my ideal temperature--nothing was happening. I tried pointing it towards the A/C vent--still nothing. Could it have been a battery issue? Without any staff on site, I couldn't really approach anyone immediately to deal with the issue. Since I was only staying overnight, I simply decided to crack the window open to let some air in. It was a good enough stopgap measure, but things could get problematic during the summer when the temperature outside is 90+ degrees Fahrenheit.
