The Light Hotel Halong

For that price I didn't expect to be able to soak in the pool and watch the sun rise higher ☀️ It was wonderful! After that, I had a breakfast included at the hotel. The room was simply designed and fully equipped. The hotel is close to the center, making getting around very convenient 🩷

The washbasin is placed right next to the bed, which is quite inconvenient because when you wash your hands carelessly water splashes all over the bed.

The staff was really helpfull, i forget an item in the room and they help me to get it back, the pool was really clean

Liked: Was a beautiful hotel. Location for us was good. Room was good and clean.

Disliked: That the staff at reception can't speak or understand English.

That was my case, however the location is not bad is neither a great spot. I was looking for just a place to stay overnight before catching a flight next day. Cleanliness was not the greatest but on the other hand personal was excellent and willing to help and accommodate you all the time. The breakfast, good enough. This hotel is built along a cliff, so the 1st and 2nd floors are effectively underground. For that reason, if you’re assigned to the 1st or 2nd floor, even if the room has a window you’ll be facing a concrete retaining wall, ventilation is very poor, and the humidity is quite high. On my previous stay I was disgusted by a moldy smell so bad it made me feel ill, along with occasional sewage odors; the room was damp and unpleasant. Still, I liked the hotel itself for its location, service, reasonable price, and well-maintained facilities, so I decided that next time I came to Ha Long I would stay here again but avoid any room below ground. For my second stay I therefore booked through Agoda and picked a room that did not say “basement/underground.” However, when I arrived it was underground and diagonally opposite the room I’d stayed in before. According to the hotel, rooms not labeled “underground” can still be located underground. My overall view—that this is a very good value hotel as long as the room isn’t underground (1st or 2nd floor)—hasn’t changed. The ways to avoid an underground room are: 1) Book directly with the hotel and request “3rd floor or higher.” 2) If using Agoda, book a room listed as “high floor.”

Liked: I thought location would be ok as reasonably close to a port but surrounded by ugly tall buildings and run down area

Disliked: Filthy towels and dirty sheets. Really grumpy unhelpful night staff. Breakfast very poor except limited fresh fruit. Toaster not working so ate bread and jam
