The Star Grand Hotel and Residences Sydney

Unfortunately, our stay at The Star Grand Hotel Sydney did not meet my expectations of a five-star hotel, particularly in terms of cleanliness and hygiene. The pillows, carpets, and sofa in the living room had unpleasant odors, which made the room feel less fresh and clean than it should have been. In the kitchen area, I also noticed dried food crumbs left behind by previous guests, suggesting that the cleaning had not been carried out thoroughly. Unfortunately, the problem was not limited to our room, as there were also unpleasant odors in the common areas. For a hotel of this standard, I expected much better attention to cleanliness, housekeeping, and overall maintenance. While a five-star hotel should offer comfort and luxury, cleanliness is a basic expectation. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and improves its housekeeping standards.

They were able to accommodate us for an early check in which was great. It was close to public transport, we utilised the ferry/ light rail and walked alot. Location was great too as it was close to Chinatown and Barangaroo so we had heaps of dining options. However, customer service could definitely be improved. I rang reception and housekeeping on a few occasions from our room and had to wait for literally 15 mins before someone answered. We’ve requested room service every morning to top up water/coffee but they didn’t attend the room until late the afternoon on 2 occasions. Very poor customer service from a 5 star hotel.

Location is SUPERB! The rest are questionable! AC ventilation is loud; AC contol panel falls off the wall; bathroom sink is chipped; bathroom wood cabinets are rotten; no hair dryer; washer & dryer not working; hotel slippers are stained; very tacky design and desperately needs to redo the whole place!

We had a wonderful stay at The Star. The hotel was beautiful, the room was comfortable and clean, and the staff were friendly and welcoming. The location was fantastic, with plenty of restaurants, entertainment and things to do all within easy reach. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and would happily come back again. Highly recommended!

The stay was great. Relaxing even with high school holiday traffic. Staff at Harvest restaurant could have been friendlier.

Liked: The room was up to the usual high standard expected from this hotel. Clean comfortable, Bed was like a cloud. We were early but still had access to the room. Shower was hot could have stayed another night but had commitments else wear.

Disliked: Breakfast goes from 7am - 11.00am we went just after 9.00 and there was a lot of things missing, the quality was not as good as usual, for what we paid for the meal will eat outside of the complex.
