Liked: The highlight of this hotel is surely the wonderful staff. From the reception, the jewelery shop attendant, the cleaning staff, and especially the restaurant and bar staff. We felt most welcomed by each and everyone. The next highlight was the cozy and beautiful ambience of the hotel from the entrance hall to the amazing rooftop bar. The breakfast was the best we had in our 2-week stay in Sri Lanka. We definitely recommend booking this hotel with breakfast as it was just wonderful.

Disliked: The rooms would appreciate a bit of maintenance. The mattress could be upgraded and the water pressure in the shower could be improved. We had ordered the "high tea" one afternoon in the rooftop bar. Although the ambience was amazing, the offered tea bags and sweets were unfortunately nothing worth the money. The tea bags in the morning were also a disappointment to me, since as a tea lover I was expecting high grade of Ceylon tea being served in a 5-star hotel. The spa sessions were conveniently arranged inside your room. I asked for a Shiatsu massage but the kind lady did a dry Thai massage which was a bit of a disappointment. All in all, we had an amazing stay and we could only highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Kandy!

Disliked: can't really use the porch, as monkeys will attack you. do not leave anything outside in the porch or they will steal it.

Overall, I had a very pleasant stay at The Trees in Kandy. The hotel has a lovely ambience, and I received a warm welcome when I arrived. The first room I was given had a partial view towards the lake, but I wasn't particularly happy with it, and I also noticed what looked like an oil stain on the bed linen. I raised this with the manager and asked whether it would be possible to move to a room with the better lake view. What did surprise me slightly was the lack of flexibility around the room change. There appeared to be very few guests staying at the hotel at the time — I was told there were only around six — so I had hoped they might offer an upgrade as a gesture of goodwill, particularly after I had raised the issue with the bed. Instead, I was asked to pay an additional US$20 for the lake-view room. I decided to pay for the upgrade, and in fairness, the view was absolutely worth it. I just felt that, given how quiet the hotel was, offering the upgrade complimentary would have been a nice touch and would have made the experience feel that little bit more generous. Breakfast was excellent. Because there were so few guests, rather than having a large buffet spread, they brought a wide selection of breakfast items directly to my table, which I actually really enjoyed. The hotel was clean, the staff were generally very good, and I really enjoyed the atmosphere throughout my stay. The pool area was another highlight, with an amazing view. The only slightly unusual thing about the pool was that there didn't seem to be anyone regularly stationed nearby or keeping an eye on the area, which I found a little odd for a hotel pool. Despite those few points, I really enjoyed my stay here. The views are beautiful, the breakfast was great, the property was clean, and the staff made the overall experience a very positive one.

Liked: We had a lovely stay at The Tree Kandy in Sri Lanka. The hotel is in a beautiful and peaceful setting, with stunning views and a relaxing atmosphere. Our room was clean, comfortable and well maintained, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. One of the highlights was the rooftop infinity pool with cafe. The views from the pool were absolutely amazing, especially while relaxing and enjoying the beautiful surroundings of Kandy. It was a perfect place to unwind and enjoy the atmosphere. The location was great for experiencing the beauty of Kandy, while the hotel itself provided a peaceful place to relax. We also enjoyed the food and the warm hospitality. Overall, we had a wonderful experience at The Tree Kandy and would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Sri Lanka. We would happily stay here again!

Liked: Had a wonderful stay at The Trees, Kandy. Beautiful surroundings, peaceful atmosphere, and excellent service. The place was very welcoming and comfortable, and I truly enjoyed my time there. Would definitely recommend it!
