Village Kyoto close by Shijo Omiya station

The quality of service is excellent for the price. I stayed one night with no meals included, and the amenities like bamboo combs, bamboo toothbrushes, and cotton pads were high quality. There was also a rinsing cup provided for each person—small touches like that were wonderful. They provided a bag for going to the bath and a samue (work-clothes style loungewear), so I was able to travel light. There was a sake tasting service at the front desk until midnight, which was enjoyable. The large public bath was available throughout check-in, so I didn’t have to worry about the time and could relax, which was great. Five of us stayed in a room that normally has two single beds; once the futons were laid out it was a bit tight, but still sufficiently spacious. Negatives were that a hairdryer in the women’s bath area was partly malfunctioning, the showerhead water pressure was strong, the gaps around the refrigerator weren’t thoroughly cleaned and had collected dust, and the futons were firm. Otherwise I had no other complaints and would definitely like to stay again.

First of all, I was surprised by the all-you-can-taste pickles and alcohol available until midnight. The two kinds of ice cream that were available any time — not just after a bath — were a huge hit with the kids. Being able to make matcha in the room anytime was a great experience for the children, and the stay left both adults and kids very satisfied. At first I was grateful for how cheap it was — “is this really the price?!” — but that made me a little worried in the end. The hotel is overall clean, there are lots of supermarkets and restaurants nearby, and the location is excellent — we never had to worry about food. My only concern is that the local safety felt a bit off. Travelers seemed well-mannered, but some local-looking elderly people we met on the street left a bad impression (shouting from behind on bicycles, and even an adult diaper soiled with feces discarded by the roadside).

The bath was extremely crowded so there were no washing stations available and we had to wait the whole time. There were only three hair dryers, and they didn’t dry well, which was a real hassle. The breakfast boxed meal’s yudofu (hot tofu) was warm and I recommend it. All the staff were pleasant and made for a comfortable stay. The pickles were delicious, and my child really loved making the bookmark — they had a lot of fun.

The luggage storage service was great, the facilities were all clean, and I was really satisfied. Breakfast wasn't incredibly delicious though, haha. There don't seem to be many casual places to grab a meal nearby, but it was convenient for traveling to Osaka since it's close to Shijo Omiya Station. The bus stop for getting to the tourist spot (Tenshū Bridge) is also nearby 🤍🤍 I recommend it to everyone.

Liked: I had a relly nice stay at this hotel. My room was really spacious and comfy. I really enjoyed everything the hotel offers: the public bath, saké + pickles tasting (each afternoon, for free!), the "made your own bookmark station" and the matcha preparation kit in the room. The location of the hotel is very convenient and the staff was very helpful when I was checking in. I would definitely stay again!

Disliked: The only thing which could be better is a missing view from the window (my room was facing another building), but that´s all.

Liked: The staff were exceptional, the room and location was wonderful.

The room was very clean, cozy and comfortable. The large public bath was excellent — when I went late at night I was the only one there. The amenity quality was good, and they even had sake. I don’t remember which floor, but there was a microwave and an ice machine you could use. The location is pretty good overall and I liked it for many reasons. I remember Disney+, Netflix, and other streaming services worked. Legendary — an amazing Kyoto place. Next time I visit I won’t even look at other options; I’ll book this one again.
