Volando Urai Spring Spa & Resort

Traveled from Taipei to Xindian Station near the Wulai Valley, then took the Volando Urai Spring Spa & Resort shuttle from Xindian Station. It’s a bit of a distance, but the moment I saw the jade-green valley glinting in the sunlight I knew it was worth it. After arrival we enjoyed Afternoon Tea, dinner (I chose Chinese over Western), and the next morning’s breakfast (Chinese) — all were satisfying. Both the private spa and the public spa were clean and pleasant. It was a 1-night, 2-day stay, and next time I’d like to go with more time to relax. On the day we left I needed an early check-out and asked them to arrange a taxi; that went smoothly.

Pros: The front desk staff provided excellent service. All four meals are all-you-can-eat so you won't go hungry. Drinks are limited to alcohol and tea — the tea is good. The late-night beef noodle soup is a must-try. Breakfast is very plentiful. Cons: The "mountain view" is just the roadside and not very nice. If you want the experience, I suggest booking a higher-tier room. On this stay the air conditioner in the room (706) made a knocking noise, maybe because it was old, and I didn't sleep well all night. During dinner there weren't many beverage options. Overall the value for money is poor — perhaps the room issue makes my review seem extreme, but it felt like I paid more to suffer.

Liked: Stunning views of the river, the rooms were clean and spacious, beds were super comfortable, beautiful fragrances in the rooms. Also high quality food served in both restaurants, in particular Soyan which is genuinely delivering world class cuisine, very impressive. The friendly staff were a real bonus, good level of English during the day. The location isvery close to Wulai old town. Hot spring spas in each room are a real luxury.

Disliked: The air conditioning failed one night leading to a very poor nights sleep. The hotel did a great job compensating us and it was just one of those things. The restaurant service was quite poor, staff didn’t seem well trained, no drinks list offered, rushed service, plates being cleared before both parties had finished. Also having to select dinner and breakfast options the day before and choose a time was definitely not a luxury touch.

Liked: We had an amazing stay at this spa hotel in Taiwan and truly felt pampered from the moment we arrived. The facilities were excellent, the atmosphere was peaceful and luxurious, and the beautiful views made the whole experience even more special. What stood out the most was the incredible staff. The team constantly thought about every little detail and always tried to make sure we had everything we needed before we even asked. Their level of care and hospitality was exceptional. One of our guests is vegan and gluten-free, and the hotel went above and beyond to prepare special meals for her throughout the stay. Every dish was thoughtful, delicious, and prepared to a very high standard, which made a huge difference for us. The only small disappointment was that the outdoor pool by the river was not operating during our stay. Aside from that, everything was simply perfect. We left feeling relaxed, cared for, and grateful for such a wonderful experience, and we would happily recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a special and relaxing getaway in Taiwan.

Liked: This place was amazing in every aspect, I’ve never seen a staff so kind and considerate in my whole life, the experience was tailored on our necessities, they took lovely initiatives for our anniversary, the hot springs are beautiful and relaxing, the food his high quality and balanced. It felt like a dream, we will come back for sure
