“I want my charges back, however I would stay again”
Liked: Great location and decent hotel
Disliked: Staff members were rude about a guest of mine who brought me water on my arrival after I arrived late and didn’t know the area, despite me telling them when I arrived that my guest would arrive. The staff member had finished his shift and the next staff came on and caused the problem. They took a payment off my card without my authorisation for it and tried charging me for mini bar as well!!!

“Disappointing internet access, inadequate for work stays”
Liked: The view from my room was fantastic
Disliked: I returned to this hotel for work, needing to continue to attend meetings and make calls for the week I was at a conference. The hotel wifi is so bad that I was unable to make Whatsapp calls or Teams meetings without the calls dropping out multiple times. I had to make 7 separate calls to the front desk to try and get this resolved. They subsequently 'upgraded from 3G to 5G' but I still had multiple issues with the internet being unreliable. I requested to speak to the hotel manager but the supervisor of the front desk refused to put me through. The room had an awful persistent smell, and the bath was an old spa bath that was grimy and mouldy. Finally, I had multiple issues with the room key, having to return to the front desk on 3 separate occasions in 7 days to have the key re-coded as it kept not working. My request to have 2 keys (as a backup) was refused until the last day of my stay.

“Very satisfactory for a congress stay except the sauna was undergoing maintenance but that’s inevitable.”
Liked: Friendly staff. Fabulous big room.
Disliked: It was sold out in Booking.com for the middle three days of my trip so after four emails there must have been a cancellation so I got into the conference hotel.

“Can’t live up to their prices!!!”
Liked: The structural integrity
Disliked: Air conditioning smells bad so it most likely hasn’t been maintained, but they extensively spray perfume in the room. Congrats. WiFi is crap. Breakfast is dull. The management did not react … thank ya

“A decent hotel in a very safe and convenient location.”
Liked: The hotel is located in a safe area with a few good restaurants nearby and the beach ( very clean and not crowded) was literally across the road. We loved the Italian restaurant nearby called Fratelli. One member of staff stood out to me and that was one of the bell hops who was so helpful and got things sorted for us immediately. His name is Kaua and he is to be congratulated on his service.
Disliked: The restaurant- we only had breakfast once as we hadn’t included it in our package. The buffet was ok but the room was so dark with no natural light. I would also say the checking in process was protracted and cumbersome. I felt there was a duplication of the information required particularly after a very long flight.

“excellent position, but good standards for breakfast, room furniture and bathroom are not met”
Liked: The room was large BUT 1.... The bathroom and shower were large BUT 2... (room was 547)
Disliked: Given the hotel’s location and its clientele, the breakfast is truly poor; it meets only the bare minimum standards for a 4-star hotel; the selection of fruit is limited (Brazil offers a far wider and more interesting variety), and the same goes for the fruit juices; eggs, slices of bacon, and frankfurters of modest quality… A few vegetables that weren’t cooked properly, and always the same ones; pastries of low to average quality. I’d say it’s a case of skimping. I’ve had far more pleasant experiences in Recife and Bahia. If I were to return, I’d take a good look at nearby hotels to see what breakfast they offer, and so, as a first port of call, I wouldn’t return to this one. BUT 1 - The room: large but unnecessarily so, with an armchair (just one – what if there’d been two of us? The bed was for two, and enormous) lost in the empty space in front of a small table. Why not a small sofa? Why a ceiling light that’s poor for reading, rather than a suitable floor lamp? BUT 2 - The bathroom. Why was there so little soap? (I only got one bottle of shampoo a day, no shower gel.) In fact, I had to buy what I needed from the drogaria Carioca round the corner. Why wasn’t there a tissue box? If there’d been bathrobes, in addition to the above, you’d have got a much better review.
