About this activity
Explore Athens’ most iconic landmarks and hidden gems on this captivating tour by car. Visit ancient sites like the Temple of Olympian Zeus and Hadrian’s Arch, marvel at the historic Panathenaic Stadium, and wander through the charming streets of Plaka, all while enjoying the city’s unique blend of history and modern life.
What to expect
The Panathenaic Stadium, built entirely of marble, is the historic site of the first modern Olympic Games in 1896. It also hosts the handover ceremony of the Olympic Flame before each Games, symbolizing the enduring spirit of Olympia.
Syntagma
Athens, Greece
Syntagma Square, home to the Hellenic Parliament and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, is a central symbol of Greek democracy.
Statue of Hadrian
Adrianou 24, Ancient Agora of Athens, Athens, 105 55, Greece
Hadrian’s Arch is a monumental gateway built to honor the Roman Emperor Hadrian. Today, it marks a historic entrance into the heart of ancient Athens, standing proudly near the Temple of Olympian Zeus.
The Temple of Olympian Zeus, once one of the largest temples in the ancient world, was dedicated to the king of the Olympian gods. Although only a few columns remain today, its scale still reflects the grandeur of ancient Athens.
Plaka
Athens, 10556, Greece
Enjoy some free time in Plaka, Athens’ oldest neighborhood—a picturesque maze of narrow lanes and colorful neoclassical houses nestled beneath the Acropolis. It’s the perfect spot to shop for local goods and savor traditional Greek cuisine.
