Dubai’s Climate Overview

Dubai has a hot desert climate with two distinct seasons: a warm winter and an extremely hot summer. Understanding the weather is essential for planning your trip, as outdoor activities are very different in November versus July.

November to March: The Best Season

This is Dubai’s peak season and the best time for outdoor activities:

  • Temperatures: Daytime 24-30°C (75-86°F), nighttime 14-20°C (57-68°F)
  • Conditions: Sunny, low humidity, minimal rainfall
  • Best for: Beach, desert safaris, outdoor dining, sightseeing, golf, water sports
  • Events: Dubai Shopping Festival (January-February), Dubai Airshow (November), Art Dubai (February)

Hotel rates are highest during this period. Book well in advance, especially for December and January.

April to May: Shoulder Season

  • Temperatures: Daytime 30-38°C (86-100°F), warm nights
  • Conditions: Increasing heat, some humidity, occasional rain in April
  • Best for: Beach in the morning, indoor attractions midday, evening walks
  • Advantage: Lower hotel rates than peak season, fewer crowds

June to September: Summer

  • Temperatures: Daytime 38-48°C (100-118°F), nighttime 28-35°C
  • Conditions: Extremely hot and humid, no rain
  • Best for: Indoor attractions, shopping malls, water parks, evening pool time
  • Advantage: Significantly lower hotel rates. Many luxury hotels offer summer packages.

Most outdoor activities are not practical during the day. However, Dubai’s indoor attractions (malls, aquariums, indoor theme parks, Ski Dubai) operate year-round.

October: Early Season

  • Temperatures: Daytime 32-38°C, starting to cool down
  • Conditions: Warm but tolerable, especially late October
  • Best for: Beach, some outdoor activities in the evening, transition to peak season

Key Events to Plan Around

  • Dubai Shopping Festival (January-February): City-wide sales, fireworks, and entertainment. Hotels are busy and expensive.
  • Ramadan (dates vary by Islamic calendar): Fasting hours from dawn to dusk. Restaurants are closed during the day but open after sunset. Tourist attractions operate normally but with modified hours. Non-Muslims can eat and drink in designated areas.
  • Eid holidays: Busy period with increased domestic tourism.
