Most hotels are along King Fahd Road and in Olaya, around the Kingdom Centre and Al Faisaliah towers, or near the King Abdullah Financial District. The Riyadh Metro, which opened in 2024–2025, now links these districts with the airport, making the city easier to explore without a car.

Best time to visit Riyadh
November to February has mild days and cool, sometimes cold, nights — the best time for Diriyah and desert trips such as the Edge of the World. Riyadh Season, the city’s entertainment festival, usually runs through the cooler months. Summers are extremely hot and dry, with daytime highs often above 45°C.
Getting around Riyadh
The Riyadh Metro’s six lines connect King Khalid International Airport, Olaya, KAFD and the old centre, and a bus network feeds the stations. Taxis and ride-hailing apps cover the rest; desert sights such as the Edge of the World need a 4x4 or a tour.
Riyadh travel tips
- The Edge of the World is about two hours from the city, with the final stretch off-road — go with a 4x4 tour and plan to be there for sunset.
- Diriyah’s At-Turaif site is ticketed with timed entry; evenings are cooler and the Bujairi Terrace restaurants are busiest after sunset.
- Dress modestly in public — loose clothing that covers shoulders and knees is appropriate for both men and women, and required at mosques and some heritage sites.
- Friday is the main weekly day of rest; many shops and sites open later in the afternoon, so plan museum visits for other days.
