1. Statement Commitment & Overview
Gateera is committed to upholding the highest standards of human rights, ethical conduct, and legal compliance across all aspects of our global business. This statement is made pursuant to section 54(1) of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and equivalent international legislation, outlining the steps taken by Gateera to prevent modern slavery, involuntary servitude, forced labor, and human trafficking within our operations and supply chains for the financial year ending 2026.
2. Our Business & Global Supply Chain
Gateera operates an independent online travel platform connecting global travelers with verified accommodation inventory. Our supply chain encompasses:
- Global distribution systems, online travel agencies, and direct hospitality reservation partners.
- Cloud infrastructure, data center, and cybersecurity software providers (e.g., Cloudflare, Google Cloud).
- Professional services firms including legal, accounting, and technical engineering contractors.
3. Zero-Tolerance Policy on Exploitation
Modern slavery is a crime and a gross violation of fundamental human rights. It encompasses slavery, servitude, forced or compulsory labor, child labor, and human trafficking. Gateera maintains a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery in all its manifestations. We are dedicated to acting ethically and with absolute integrity in all business relationships.
4. Partner Due Diligence & Code of Conduct
Because we operate as a travel booking platform, our primary point of engagement with the physical hospitality industry is through licensed travel suppliers and distribution networks. We require that all certified partners:
- Strictly adhere to international labor conventions, including the International Labour Organization (ILO) Core Conventions on Forced Labour (No. 29 and No. 105).
- Implement stringent safeguards against the sexual exploitation of children and minors in travel and tourism (ECPAT principles).
- Ensure fair remuneration, safe working conditions, non-discriminatory hiring, and lawful working hours for all hotel and service personnel.
- Immediately terminate partnerships with any accommodation facility credibly implicated in human trafficking or unlawful labor exploitation.
5. Risk Assessment & Auditing
We periodically assess modern slavery risks within our technological and operational partnerships. Because our direct operations are technology-focused, our primary risk vector lies within the broader hospitality ecosystem. To mitigate this risk, we prioritize integration with established, globally recognized OTAs that enforce stringent anti-trafficking protocols and supply chain auditing.
6. Whistleblowing & Reporting Mechanism
Gateera encourages all employees, partners, and travelers to report any suspicion of modern slavery or human trafficking connected with any property or entity displayed on our platform.
Email: ethics@gateera.com
Reports may be submitted anonymously and will be investigated with urgency without fear of retaliation.
7. Ongoing Accountability & Board Approval
This statement has been reviewed and approved by the Executive Leadership Team of Gateera and represents our ongoing commitment to ethical travel and global human rights.
