3 Days in Dubai: A Complete Itinerary
A practical 3-day Dubai itinerary covering Burj Khalifa, Old Dubai, desert safari, Palm Jumeirah, and Dubai Marina with tips for each day.
Day 1: Old Dubai and the Modern Center
Morning: Old Dubai
Start in Al Fahidi Historical District, one of the oldest neighborhoods in Dubai. Walk the narrow lanes, visit the Coffee Museum, and explore the art galleries in restored courtyard houses.
Then head to Dubai Creek. Take an abra (traditional wooden boat) across the creek for 1 AED. On the other side, explore the Gold Souk and Spice Souk in Deira. Even if you are not buying, the sights and smells are worth the visit.
Lunch: Budget Eats in Deira
Grab shawarma, falafel, or a thali at one of the many budget restaurants in Deira. Ravi Restaurant is a local institution serving Pakistani food at reasonable prices.
Afternoon: Downtown Dubai
Take the Metro to Burj Khalifa / Dubai Mall station. Visit the Burj Khalifa observation deck (book tickets online in advance for the best price). Explore Dubai Mall, including the free aquarium tunnel and the fountain area outside.
Evening: Dubai Fountain and Dinner
Watch the Dubai Fountain show โ free performances every 30 minutes starting at 6:00 PM. Have dinner at one of the restaurants around the fountain with views of Burj Khalifa.
Day 2: Desert Safari and Modern Wonders
Morning: Palm Jumeirah
Take the Metro to Mall of the Emirates, then the monorail to Palm Jumeirah. Visit the Atlantis resort at the tip of the Palm. If you enjoy water parks, Aquaventure is one of the best in the region.
Afternoon: Desert Safari
Book an evening desert safari that includes hotel pickup. Most tours depart around 3:00 PM and include dune bashing, camel rides, sandboarding, and a BBQ dinner at a desert camp. See our Dubai desert safari guide for what to expect.
The safari returns around 9:00-10:00 PM.
Alternative (if you skip the safari): Museum of the Future
Book tickets for the Museum of the Future โ a striking architectural landmark showcasing futuristic exhibits. Sessions are timed, so book ahead.
Day 3: Marina, Beach, and Shopping
Morning: Dubai Marina Walk
Start with a walk along the Dubai Marina Walk, a 7-kilometer waterfront promenade. The Marina is especially beautiful in the morning light. Stop for coffee at one of the many cafes.
Midday: Beach Time
Head to Kite Beach or JBR Beach for some sun and sea. Kite Beach has food trucks and views of Burj Al Arab. JBR Beach has lifeguards, changing facilities, and nearby dining.
